Since 1999, makinhole.com is a commercial website featuring desktop oil & gas industry directional/horizontal drilling software and related subject matter information. It is provided by Stoner Engineering LLC ("SELLC") for business purposes only.
We strive to provide transparency and surpass privacy expectations like no others in this space. Our privacy statement as set forth below will inform you about the nature, scope, and purpose of the personal data collected and processed by us.
Please note that if you or your company has elected to license or use our desktop software, you and SELLC may have already entered into separate agreements that will govern the processing of all information and data collected by us in connection with the software, including data potentially collected through our web and email servers. Such agreements take precedence over any conflicting provision in this Privacy Policy.
As data controller and processor, we reserve the right to update our privacy policy at any time without prior notice. Upon a change in policy, we will alert you with a new entry on our Press Events page in the respective month; and, your continued use of this website will constitute your consent to the updated policy. Use the “Last Updated” date above to determine the effective date of the policy.
We may collect and process your personal data in order to:

provide you with license activation capability for the software you downloaded from our website and installed onto your computer;

When you visit our website, our system automatically collects required and industry-standard web server information about your visit—such as our page you requested and your IP address—in order to serve the requested page back to you and to aggregate basic website usage statistics. We hire service provider data processors to process on our behalf automatically collected web server information about your visit, to both filter spam from valid email and to serve email, to regularly backup data, to enable and perform secure data file transfers with you, to invoice you, and to perform any other business purpose we may deem necessary. Such service providers support SELLC for fees, especially relating to hosting and operating servers and internet-related services on which we rely to run our company. These processors may be located outside of the USA and we use the internet to interact with all of them. We DO NOT sell, rent, loan, or knowingly share your personal data with any 3rd party or with any such data processor or service provider for their use. We DO NOT store your personal data or any portions thereof on any platform or service that is free.
To further protect your privacy in uncommon fashion, our website:
DOES NOT include social media features (e.g., share or like buttons);
DOES NOT use social media platforms; and
DOES NOT use any 3rd party tracking services for "analytics".
Our website content DOES contain links to 3rd party websites in order to provide relevant information and references. We are not responsible for such external content, which may contain separate privacy policies and data processing disclosures.

We may also disclose your personal information to a regulatory or law enforcement agency if we believe it to be necessary to protect the rights, property, or personal safety of SELLC, its clients, or any 3rd party.
If you have given to us your business card or your addresses for purposes of communication or otherwise, we may use your data to contact you through mail or email to send mandatory notices or informational/promotional emails relating to our website, services, software or your account with us. You may revoke your consent to being contacted by mail or email for promotional purposes at any time by clicking on a provided unsubscribe link if applicable, by using our general contact form or primary phone number, or in some cases by replying directly via email effectively stating your wish to "unsubscribe".
